Women Groups Training in South Sudan

Action Africa Help through its capacity building project has finished a three-day workshop for four women groups in Otogo Payam on small business empowerment skills.

The three day training during the beginning of august 2012 was attended by 20 participants from Ombasi Boma, Morsak Boma, Logo Boma and Kegulu respectively.

The chairlady of Otogo Payam, Adeline Awate, speaking at the end of the training, praised the Government of South Sudan and AAH for empowering women in her Payam.

“Now that we know how to plan, start and run our business successfully I encourage you to put into practice what you learned from this training” Said Adelina. She went on to explain that women are capable of doing business in her Payam but the challenge putting them behind was most people beliefs in their traditions. ”For how long do you want us to remain goal keepers”? She asked.

This initiative is designed to significantly improve community participation in business practices, improve incomes for families and entrepreneurial women in Otogo Payam to act as role models for sustainable livelihoods.

Gladys Aputu a participant from Logo said, “We lacked business skills before and we didn't share ideas with one another," she further explained that when they get back they are going to form a savings group to raise capital to grow our businesses.
