Supporting Health Services in Maridi Hospital

The Maridi County Hospital was not initially in the plan for Action Africa’s work in South Sudan. In the early 1990’s, as AAH South Sudan worked with small community based health facilities, it became evident that there was a need for better quality services on a larger scale.

Improving Health Care in Mundri West County

Hidden by overarching forests, Action Africa Help International has been running one of its best performing health projects since 2005.

Funded by USAID, the Mundri Health Transformation Project (MTHP II) was launched in 2009 and implemented in Mundri West county of Western Equatoria State in South Sudan. MTHP II’s objective is to work to transition health service delivery to relief development by expanding access and coverage.

Reaping better harvests in Yambio

Gabriel Peter will tell you himself, for his age and his size, he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. With two wives, 16 children, and a handful of close relatives depending on him, it’s no wonder he takes pride in his farm that feeds and educates his many dependents.

Peter has been farming near Yambio, South Sudan since 1998, a time when many were returning to the area after peace came to the region.

Changing Ombasi One Artist at a Time

Seen through the backdrop of a small forest, the border town between Congo and South Sudan sits the growing town of Ombasi.

During the 21-year civil war, the SPLM (Sudan People’s Liberation Movement) had a camp in Ombasi attracting thousands of people to it’s confines for protection. This created a diverse community with over 36 tribes represented and a population of about 8,000.
