The Kakuma Refugee Assistance Programme (KRAP)  

Kakuma refugee camp is located on the outskirts of Kakuma town, which is the headquarters for Turkana West District, Turkana County of Northwestern Kenya. It consists of four settlement areas: Kakuma 1, Kakuma 2, Kakuma 3 and Kakuma 4 (the most recent settlement area for new arrivals).


At the end of August 2014, Kakuma Refugee Camp was hosting 177,995 refugees; the majority of whom were South Sudanese (48.96%) and Somali refugees (31.96 %). Other refugees were from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Eritrea and Burundi.
