RESEARCH ASSISTANT

AAH-I is a key implementing partner for United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and Somalia. In the context of Hargeisa Somaliland, UNHCR’s mandate is to provide services to urban-based persons of concern and these include registered refugees and asylum seekers, many of whom have been in the situation for well over 20 years.

 

AAH-I is seeking a Research Assistant for the UNHCR Funded Self Reliance/Livelihoods Project to support the analysis of the market context and developing effective Self Reliance/ livelihood strategies for refugees, returnees, asylum seekers and vulnerable host community from 2015 and beyond.

 

The primary role of the RA is to collect data through obtaining cooperation and interviewing respondents. The majority of the interviews will require field visits. 90% of the work is in the field.

 

Job Location: The Research Assistant will report to the AAH-I/UNHCR Hargeisa office, and will conduct the study within Hargeisa, Republic of Somaliland.

PROJECT MANAGER, AAH-I DJIBOUTI

Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is working in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia with Board approval to expand to Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi. It brings over 25 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people, host communities and communities in urban slums. 

 

AAH-I is moving into Djibouti to improve health and nutrition status of 32,500 refugees and other persons of concern (PoC) living in Djibouti through supporting increased access to quality and comprehensive health services and strengthening chronic disease prevention and response to epidemics. 

 

We are looking for a Project Manager to provide managerial support to project staff and have the responsibility for ensuring that the project is managed effectively and that AAH-I plays a valuable and influential role in improving health services in Djibouti. 

 

Work Location: Djibouti, with frequent travel to Country field locations.

S/he will plan, execute and evaluate all activities of financial management of various projects; financial and accounting processes and be responsible for creating, reviewing, updating and enforcing compliance of the projects’ financial/administrative policies and procedures.

LOGISTICS OFFICER – MOGADISHU, SOMALIA

Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is an African-led, regional organisation, working in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. It brings over 25 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people, host communities and communities in urban slums. AAH-I Somalia is implementing a UNHCR logistics

 

Reporting to the Project Manager the Logistics Officer will lead in operational matters relating to fleet management; warehouse management and general office administration while maintaining AAH-I stipulated standards. The role will work in close collaboration with the Yemeni Community School head in operational matters relating to management of the school. S/he will enforce the adherence of safety regulations and follow up on security occurrences with the Regional Security Manager. The role will also act as the security focal person for Mogadishu and will manage warehouse staff, drivers and guards

S/he will ensure that funds are raised to deliver this vision and that work is implemented to the quality and other standards as set out in AAH-I’s policies and procedures. 

 

Work Location: Lusaka, with frequent travel to projects in Zambia.
