Kenya

AAH-Kenya is building climate resilience across communities through innovative environmental programs, but the majority of our impact stems from deep partnerships with local governments and grassroots mobilization.

All our environmental initiatives in Kenya focus on scalable impact as necessary, making this comprehensive approach to carbon reduction and land management the first of its kind in the region.

AAH-I is working with local governments in Kenya to build community resilience for climate change adaptation and management of natural resources and the shared environment. To ensure that communities have sufficient access to and promote sustainable energy, AAH In Kenya distribute 15,300 Improved Cookstoves (ICS) The project’s objective is to reduce approximately 60,000 tCO₂ emissions by promoting the use of thermally efficient stoves. 30 community ambassadors were trained and actively involved in mobilization, registration, distribution, and monitoring. Successful community awareness campaigns and beneficiary training sessions conducted.

In Kenya the Entooma Sidai grassland management project has registered over 270,000 hectares of land into the project and hope to hit the 300,000 hectares’ target by the end of the year or early in 2025. The next phase is to group the land owners into family and village clusters grazing units and to train them on grass management to fit with the Vera Methodology protocols and to map the grazing areas. The team has been invited for a carbon financing workshop in Nairobi on 10th December and we hope for fruitful networking opportunities
